RIZAL province, represented by San Mateo National High School, completed its domination of the recently concluded Cebuana Lhuillier-presented National Inter-secondary girls softball championships in scintillating fashion as it posted an abbreviated four-inning 10-0 victory over Manila.
Sweeping the elimination round with a 9-0 win-loss slate and emerging number one team, Rizal showed its intention early in the game as they exploded for four runs right in the first inning on a hit by Cristy Roa that sent Leialyn Guevarra and Chacha Quintos socring.
The Rizalians scored two more runs after that, racing to a 4-0 lead which they padded to what it was at the end of the game, cut short due to the 10-run rule.
It was a similar story in the second inning as Rizal scored four more runs while holding Manila scoreless behind the pitching of Cochise Cherokee Diolata.
Both teams failed to scored in the third inning but Rizal, powered by a two-run homer by MVP Delyrose Covarrubias in the fourth, wrapped up the crown in easy fashion.
