LHUILLIER EYES BISL PLUM

"We will not be there for a picnic, we went to win and we will go for the championship," this from Jean Henri Lhuillier who will be bringing a 28 man slo-pitch softball team to Thailand for the Bangkok Invitational Softball League (BISL) set November 19 to 21.

Made up of the core of the Cebuana Lhuillier Team that won the Super Division championship in the tough Pangea Cup help earlier this year in Manila, the trip is the incentive promised by the businessman-sportsman if they win the Pangea championship but he further strengthened the team by getting some of the best players in the Manila Slo-pitch Softball League (MSSL).

After all, this is the very first time that a team composed of all Filipino players will be competing in the BISL where there are more than 20 club teams expected to participate including four-time defending champions Guzzlers from South Korea, and teams from China, Indonesia, Dhaharan, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines, California, and host Thailand.

A lot of current and former national softball and baseball players are on the team, including 6 Blue Boys and 3 on the training team, and 10 national baseball players and among the more-familiar sounding names are Larry Icban, Apol Rosales, Ernesto and Manuel Binarao, Bubut Dizer, Alex Estipular, Chot Angeles, Roel Empacis, and Randy Dizer among others.

"I believe we are in the top 5 among the competing teams, we are strong all around and I am confident about our slugging, pitching, and fielding, we have won the Pangea Cup and we can do it again, especially that we have improved our team a lot, we have played with a lot of the teams entered here and we beat them before," said playing coach and team manager Lan Perez.

The Cebuana Lhuillier term has been playing in the MSSL for the last 9-year and have won several titles already while in the Pangea Cup, they have previously won the third and second division championships before finally landing the most prestigious Super Division title.

"I certainly would like to see a resurgence in the sport of both baseball and softball where we get players for slo-pitch softball, which in turn in one of the most widely-played team sports in the United States, and Cebuana Lhuillier will do its part to promote this sport, hopefully, a good performance in Bangkok will help make slo-pitch softball more popular here," added Lhuilier who is a regular member of his softball team and plays actively aside from being the team's patron.
hampionship", said Lhuillier of his team's victory.
