The RP-Cebuana Lhuillier softball team competed and placed 3rd in the recently concluded 9th Asia Cup International Slow Pitch Softball Tournament held on September 20 to 21, 2008 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Organized by the Taiwan Slowpitch Softball Association (TSSA), the softball competition took place in the Taipei County Sanchung Chung Shin Softball Field and was well attended by 8 teams from different countries. The tournament also followed a round robin and double elimination format and played according to Taiwan slowpitch softball and International Softball Federation rules.
Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) President Jean Henri Lhuillier who was part of the team’s line-up led the Philippines’ delegation, RP-Cebuana Lhuillier softball team and was assisted by ASAPHIL Secretary General Danny T. Francisco. The said competition served as a tune-up and additional training for a tournament they are about to join November of this year.
Aside from him, the team also included in its roster the best of the country’s softball players to represent the country, namely, Venerando Lopez Dizer, Ronald Anthony Sangil, Davy Lan Joseph Aguelo Perez, Julius Ceasar Morales Visaya, Isidro Pedroza Abello, Jeffry Espinosa Hardillo, Romeo Rumbaua Bumagat, Apolonio Umali Rosales, Manolito Constantino Binarao, Ulysses Maningo Mejia, Oscar Regaladi Bradshaw IV, Mark Rae Teves Ramirez, Anthony Perillo Santos, Jasper Bacarisas Cabrera, and Ben Tumolak Maravilles.
