CEBUANA LHUILLIER SHINES IN TITAN'S AND MSSL
Coming off from their historic win early this year at the PANGAEA Cup International Slo-Pitch Tournament, softball champion Cebuana Lhuillier is expanding its turf and proving its mettle in both the Titan's Baseball League and the Manila Slo-pitch Softball League (MSSL). Splitting their team to participate in both events, the Cebuana Lhuillier team, also known as the "Sluggers", successfully maintained their 2nd place position in the two tournaments after the regular season.

So far, posting 11 wins, 2 losses and a draw in the Titan's Tournament, Cebuana Lhuillier is set to play against defending Champion Antipolo in a championship match scheduled this weekend. The Cebuana Lhuillier Sluggers demolished Team Marikina 23-0 to set up a showdown with Antipolo.
Cebuana Lhuillier's strong performance came as a surprise to the other baseball teams in the league considering that it was their first time to join the baseball tourney. The team's two losses were due to defaults caused by a conflict of schedule with the MSSL, while their lone draw was in the hands of Antipolo. |
Led by team owner/player Jean Henri Lhuillier and playing team manager Lan Perez, Cebuana Lhuillier was also the only team in the Titan's League to inflict a defeat on the defending champs.
The Titans Baseball League hosts regular competitions for ex-collegiate varsity, national team and recreational players, aiming to contribute to the sustainable development of baseball in the Philippines.
In MSSL, Cebuana Lhuillier finished the regular season with a win-loss record of 13-4, placing second along with Santa Fe and falling behind Meralco (16-1). This is the first time in the past two years that Cebuana Lhuillier fell short in dominating the league's regular season.
Going towards the playoffs, the Cebuana Lhuillier Sluggers is riding on the momentum of three back-to back wins, including one over Meralco, which kept the leading team from sweeping the regular season.
With the Titans League wrapping up this weekend, Cebuana Lhuillier is looking forward to have the entire team back on the playing field to boost their chances of clinching the MSSL championship.
One of the main proponents of slo-pitch softball in the country, the Manila Slo-pitch Softball League (MSSL) has evolved from a league for US Embassy personnel in the mid-70's to a venue for local softball players to play at a competitive level.
Current MSSL Team Standings: Meralco 16-1, Santa Fe 13-4, Cebuana 13-4, Bison 15-4, Bos 5-12, La Salle 4-13
Curren Titans Team Standings: Antipolo 12-1-1, Cebuana 11-2-1, Marikina 11-3, Loyola 8-6, Alabang Athletics 6-8, Titans Alabang 3-11, Titans Makati 2-12, Titans Korea 1-13.
