TAIWANESE SLO-PITCH BATTERS LIFT PANGAEA CUP
POWERHOUSE CHINESE-TAIPEI SQUADS dominated the three-day Cebuana Lhuillier Pangaea Cup slo-pitch International Tournament, emerging champion in the elite Super division and taking the "A" and Club titles as well.
Tong Hwa, winner of the 2004 Southeast Asian tournament and the 2004 and 2005 ROC President Cup, disposed of defending Super division champion Fattboyz Guzzlers, 43-25, in the finals at the Alabang Country Club grounds.
Earlier, Tong Hwa beat title sponsor Cebuana Lhuillier, 26-14, in the semifinals while Fattboyz Guzzlers clinched the other title slot at the expense of another Chinese-Taipei team, Fu Sheng, 16-12.
Cebuana Lhuillier, back-to-back Pangaea Super division titlist in 2003 and 2004, finished third this time. The team was led by Asaphil president Jean Henri Lhuillier.
At the Club level, Tong Hwa's other team blasted Loz Guzzlers, 29-20, in the finals to nail the "A" division title.
The well-knit Tong Hwa batters downed the Meralco Sluggers, 25-11, while Los Guzzlers edged out the Manila Gorillas, 9-6, in the semifinals.
Completing the Chinese domination was Typhoon Bomb squad's victory over the Hong Kong Turkeys, 15-5, to take the Club championship in the 3-in-1 tournaments.
